Around Beauty

My work celebrates the beauty of curves. I believe curves are beautiful because of the sense of balance they express. Working as a figure sculptor I started to recognize patterns in the human body. For instance, how muscles braid in and out through the legs and arms in a spiral fashion. In my work I try to illustrate this spiral motion, as my curves ascend and descend they grow or contract in a soft gradual motion with no sudden interruptions. I believe it is the gradual nature of the curve that creates its beauty and the symmetry of the spiral that expresses balance. As I pull inspiration from nature, I create pieces that prove beauty can be found in the round.
